Your crank journals all look fine, at least w/in spec... seems your bearings are all fat or something. Negative oil clearance on 1-3 is definitely not good...

So I need to buy the right bearings or somehow, get these "bored"?

You can't bore bearings. I use Kolbenschmidts for the mains, the other brands can be pretty poor in quality. Even with those though, I have gotten a bad #4. Other than trying another set of bearings, if you are *sure* of your bearing measurements, you can have your crank turned to your spec. For me, when I have had a tight bearing even after trying multiple sets I usually "massage" the saddle till I get the clearance I want.

As I get older, I am taught humility more often by Him...

I wanted to systematically install the main bearings one at a time and torque down after each bearing installation to find the culprit causing the crank to 'bind'. One thing I did different this time was to use what Brian uses to assemble his motor; STP Oil Treatment. Also I went ahead and installed the fly wheel as well.

Well after carefully assembling the crankshaft in the case with last bearing installed and torqued, the crankshaft spins rather easily, using the flywheel!!!

Maybe it was correctly assembled before but using the connecting rods to push/pull the rotating assembly was too difficult because of the leverage and reaching the floating part of the rotation at BDC/TDC.

Anyways, I put it up for the night and will stab the cam next to test fit it and see if I can button up the short block.

I am glad that you have the engine together now. I just wanted to through something out there. When we align bore a case there is really no way that we can cut the holes "too small" because of the way the bar is set up. When the tool is set in place and the case is torqued around it that's it. It cant move at all. Also the cutting edge of the bar is in a fixed position. We have two sets of cutters for the tool .020 and .040. There is nothing that can be set up by us incorrectly and if the tool was out of whack I would have a whole bunch of angry customers. :?

Thank you for the explaination, Andy. I was concerned that the case could have been warped and even though it was bored, maybe it wouldn't be right after installation and/or the crank was out of round or required a grind.
