I was having so much fun tonight I even got carried away with the camera.

This is the cage attachment method I have choosen. This is for the A piller bars, but the B piller (main hoop) will be the same way. Its a 6"x9"x.125" plate. The 6x6 section will bolt to the pan. The extra 3" is bent up onto the heater channel and will be welded. NHRA says 6x6x.125 plate sandwich the pan with 4ea 3/8" bolts. I'm going to weld the bottom 1/8" plate to the pan and bolt through it. This keeps the cage as part of the body so it can someday be seperated.

Next up is the main hoop. Its hard to see, but thats the point :D Its also dark ha.

The cage is sitting a tad high, but its because of the last picture.

I got this idea from millerwelds website. Cut a hole in the floor to let the tube fall through. Mark it and cut to length. Then when I am ready to weld all the tubes, I can tack them together, then lower through the holes and have access to the top which would otherwise be difficult to weld. Pretty clever Miller. The reason the cage is sitting high (bout 1/2") is because I haven't cut then yet and there are a few 2x4s between the floor and the end of the tube.

This is fun. JD2 model 32, five stars, two thumbs up. Tomorrow is going to be a big day!!

glad to see you found the Pirate instructions, how goes the tube fitting? Once you get the hang of it, it is pretty simple.

Yeah its not to bad. I did scrap one of the A-piller bars. It has three bends, two on plane and one off. It didn't turn out like I wanted so I used it as templete. I think the difficult part is getting tight joints. I'm being picky so they are all fitting flush. I'll post some pictures tonight.

did you buy a tube notcher, those help a lot. There is also a tool that will copy the angle of an tube intersection so you can transfer it over. I have also found those little 3M sanding disks to be great for doing the fine tuning on joint fitment, flapper disks work well also.

Yeah I got a tube notcher. Makes it easier, but getting it just right takes some time. Test fit, grind, test fit, grind, etc etc.

Missing the door bars and the dash bar. I need to order the door bar swing out kits.

All just tacked together. Needs to be finished tig'd.

Finally some pictures during the day time. They are still hard to see because its overcast.
