Looks like the exact one, except the tank you had was a mechanical fuel sending unit and my ghia uses an electrical type. I am now going to have the tank boiled at a radiator shop, repaint it, install a new VDO seding unit, gasket, in-tank filter, and new spout.

Thanks again Kotsya!

After I met you (Kotsya) and left KAR, I got home to realize that I left the windshield rubber at Kermit's! So I have to make another trip back.

With the fuel and cost of the part I probably could have forked over the money to buy the windshield rubber with the trim groove!

If you find a shop that will boil your tank let me know. If you can't find one, like me, I can tell ya how to do it on your own. Its not hard.

You can do it yourself for less than $20! I have friends in the "industry" and they couldn't find anybody on the Northside of town. I think mabey I-10 East where all the big rigs are, you might find somebody.....I think there are to many enviromental issues with having boil tanks, and besides, its cheaper to buy a new radiator, so radiator shops don't use them anymore. All you need is muratic acid(paint isle at Lowe's) 2' of steel chain, neoprene gloves for harsh chemicals, and LOTS of baking soda to nutralize the acid. Note: When acid is nutralized it is converted into a sodium (Salt), and water. so its fairly safe after nutralization. The unsafe part is the stuff that was in the tank. In my case it was 25 years of sitting with a 3/4 full tank of gas. It turned to "varsol" and stunk! I had really bad gum build up on the bottom and LOTS of rust. Eastwood company sells a tank sealer kit for after the "boil out" or cleaning. It has an etcher and a sealer. Was around $30 I think. If you need more details I can walk you through the exact process, and how to be safe.

That's a good write-up Dylan, you should post that in the Tech Help section.

I stopped by a local radiator shop here in Pearland a few months ago, and they said they could boil and coat it for $80.

Does the $80 include paint on the outside? Or at least primer?

I would por-15 the outside, but I don't think por-15 is gasoline safe for the inside. Eastwood has a metal wash that will etch the metal with a zinc coating to stop rust. its included in the restore kit. I should get paid for promo time.......It is a great kit, easy to use, and inexpensive.

The radiator shop in Conroe will probably boil it for me; they boiled and "cored" out my radiator on my mustang. I have heard of people getting their fuel tank boiled AND teflon coated. Anyone heard of this as well?
