i think it might be time for the square to go. i will post it local first.
$5000.00 as it sits. if i fix it, i will likely keep it. i will explain the simple fix below.
on the type 3s cooling system, the big fan has a center hub that rides on 6 bushings and acts as a harmonic balancer of sorts. anyways those bushings wear out and the fan starts rattling and moving around. well I swapped the fan, but apparently I didn't get it seated onto the end of the crank far enough in, so the fan is rubbing the inside of the housing and I had to get it out of the garage, so I couldn't go back thru it before moving it. i think the keyway on the end of the crank may have kicked up on the back end slightly not letting the fan press on all the way.
this is not a perfect car but a great cruiser. i have never been afraid to drive this car anywhere or any distance.
for those that have not seen the car in person, this car has been repainted new beetle harvest moon beige, not white like many pictures make it look.
it can still test driven, it just constantly rubs and would need to be fixed before any cruising.
our house has been invaded by contractors getting our house ready to hopefully sell it, so the square is at my wife's grandmas so they could work on the garage plus to leave it there while the house is listed. with everything going on it is difficult for me to get to work on it. i hate to see it sitting around. it needs to be driven.
i also have some other type 3 parts I might be willing to toss in, like some complete doors and rear fenders, among other things, off the 69 fasty we parted out.
the first two pics show the newly recovered and installed low back seats in the black basket weave to match the original rear set. the upholstery and seat cushions are brand new from tmi.
orange roof is current.
