One last thing

"so yeah, as long as the shock doesn't bottom out (as I said...), the length is irrelevant to the damping."

not sure if i agree due to the way a torsion bar system works ( not sure how to word this)

the ride will be softer due to the fact that the throw is longer and there is less tension on the torsion.

I have ridden in cars that have been lowered both ways.

all bullshit aside

if you are only lowering the car the 2.75 inches the plates dont have a huge difference over dropping it 2.75 inches via splines except for ease of instillation and ride quality. but if you go lower than that they will make a huge difference when using the plates.

don't make me get my calculator out again! :P
I still don't see there being any difference in the shock action for the reasons I stated, but it is possible that with the angle of the spring plate it is similar to the angle you get in the front trailing arms when you lower it a lot with the beam only vs dropped spindles. If a car is dropped so much that the spring plate is at a high angle that could make the ride worse than if the spring plate is at more normal angle and the axle is raised with that kit. My guess is it would only really make a big difference on cars that are super slammed to the point where they would have to notch the spring plates. That high of an angle could degrade the geometry and the ride. I would say that that kit is intended to correct the spring plate angle on cars that are going to be really low, but the damping is going to be about the same. For someone who wants their ride on the ground, looks like a nice setup!

Edit: you beat me too it! I think we are both saying basically the same thing

To all that are interested in seeing a miracle happen or get real close to happening, I am going to have a work day(night) at my house this Saturday staring at 5pm. I will be supplying food, drinks, and beer. I would like to get this Ghia running!
