Well, I had an itch so I had to scratch :hillbilly: :hillbilly: Here's my new 1972 German Military VW 181 (Thing). I don't know much about these Things (no pun intended) but I do know the German Things are much harder to come by and apparently have several differences. They run a bus like trans-axle, taillights, turn signals, and air scoops on side are not there. They guy I bought it from says that higher quality steel was used also and therefore not near the rust issue??? The Mexican Things have hideous taillights and turn signals. Transaction was finalized today and the shipping company is due to pick it up in the next few days. I'll figure out what to do to it once I've seen it in person. It's getting SLAMMED for sure 8-) 8-)

The dude I bought it from is straight up German "Gerhardt"  He says the Thing was a German Military vehicle before the Belgian Red Cross took it.. he says you can still see the Red Cross signage
