mock it up first. I've had a lot of type 3's, you are in for a lot of work to get them in.

http://tiny.cc/4mkju
for this car, it's swapped over to short axle. I had to roll the fenders and pull them out a bit. too high and the fender lip is in the way. too low and the top of the inner fender is in the way. It took a lot of adjusting inner and outer splines, bolting everything together, and putting it on the ground and rolling it back and forth, only to see it rub. back apart, adjust some more, got it perfect, but then the inside of the tire hits the inner fender. bang that in (or massage as Hot VW's would say) and it's all good. and dont let anyone in the back or cary anything, cause it'll rub. all of that, and my buddy left the bug nosecone and stick on when he swapped to the short axle. DOH

All of that, and those were 5.5's not 6's, but yours look like 5.5's to me.
thats why I went 4.5's all the way around on my last squareback! Not worth it but we were determined

I think he has 5.5's on his notch right now with no modifications besides short axels. wonder if its the size of the tire you had on that one Eric or maybe the offset of the rim.

Long axles would most likely make those 5.5's on there rub; add another .5" and it will take some work if it will...

I agree on the 6's being a lot of trouble, i was referring to Eric's problem with the 5.5's and short axles.

The notch has 6" on short axles and is sitting super low to get all the camber. It can't come up at all with those wheels. I talked to the guy that sold these to me and he says they're 5.5"??? I'm gonna re-measure them today at the shop.. He says he has the offset setup to work on a long axle T3?? He said if they don't work, he'll take them back and send me some others. When I get back, I'll mount up some tires and give it a try
