I told my third-grader that I'd take her down to the bus stop in style today. It was 40 degrees, so the Bug was a little reluctant to fire and go this morning (kind of like me). The neighbors enjoyed the header/muffler combo at 7:55 a.m.

Of course, weather dude said no rain today - it did. Wipers, I don't need no stinking wipers ... just Rain-X and speed.

Will post some photos from the Auto Jumble Sunday down in the Warehouse District. Might be a few others flying the VW freak flag.

Looks like fun!

Did John tell you about the time driving to the 2009 Texas Classic in a Monsoon?

No, Mr. John didn't share that story with me - is that why the headliner is still all wet? :P

Of course, if I run the Bug much lower I might lose the entire car inside the water-filled potholes they call a road here in Michigan.

Not sure what the costs are for registering a car in Texas, but in Michigan we have an evil little thing called "sales tax." So, I might not have been 100 % honest in what I claimed was the Bug sale price

Also, the state has restrictions on vehicles with antique/historic plates. According to the sec. of state you can drive it to and from car shows, parades and a few other specific events. :bs:

Does Texas have similiar restrictions?

I have always been told that if you get pulled over all you have to say is your checking the brakes you just installed or testing the work you just did on it

Yeah, the lady at the counter was none to bright. I think I could have told her $25 bucks for the sale price and throw in a historic plate while you're at it.

Do you guys have sales tax on vehicles - except on sales between family members?

Or, I'm just getting back from a parade at 10 a.m. on a Wednesday, officer.

Well, this is as close as I have out in the garage. 66 Plate belonged to my father-in-law; it was on his VW Bus. I also have a 67, 73 and the red, white and blue 76 plate.

License plate guy at a car show/part swap said Michigan didn't have a VW plate for 64 - just a metal 64 tab you attached to the right hand corner.
