Smelt don't get real big - to the untrained eye they do look like a minnow or bait (which they are for say, brown trout). These guys were on the smaller side - but they do taste good !! :hillbilly:

Had some top-end issues with the TN'T - it would bog down after 3/4 throttle. Checked compression, which was better than I thought: 135 both cylinders cold; 150 clutch-side and 147 warm. Fairly good numbers for a nearly 40-year-old motor w/out much overhaul. I think the problem was a slack throttle cable. Ran much better yesterday; would rev to 5,000 w/out a problem; felt good when I took it for a quick blast down the street.

We picked up another 6-8 inches from the Snowmegadon (places downstate had 20 inches). Did see you fellas got a bit of "winter" as well w:pw

Finally cracked 28 degrees today. I'm starting to get the Bug itch bad :( Sadly, March/April seems a long way off.

I thought you guys might like to see what some snow piles actually look like. It's been too-damn cold: about -8 tonight. Could bump up to mid-30s this weekend - break out the shorts

Pix below: Sometimes you can't get through the snow. I used the snow blower to clear a tunnel in the side yard. Took my daughter and her friend for some hot laps around the house.

I'm taking the T'NT to a vintage snowmobile show this weekend; should be 150 or so sleds. I'll post up photos. I'm still sorting out issues - could be the secondary clutch or something as simple as a clogged up fuel filter.

I also posted the latest fishing pixs. My brother-in-law and I took the kids out fishing Super Bowl Sunday before the game. I caught the only fish - an undersized northern pike.

Hey Freebird, you ice fishing yet in Texas?

Great pics!!

We're finally gonna thaw out. As a matter of fact, it's supposed to be close to 70 on Sunday and I'm heading to Lake Fork to see if I can get a jump on spring fishing. I'll post pics and let ya know! ;)

Now that's a fish and it's under sized. How big do they have to be to keep.

Made it over to the vintage snowmobile show this weekend. But first I had to dig out my trailer - that was two hours of fun :furious:

There were about 100 or so snowmobiles. I was 98 or 99 by the time I finally got my ass there. There were six other T'NT sleds - actually a high number compared to other shows. My sled was the ugly girl at T'NT prom. :hillbilly:

I left my sled with the guy who runs the show. He's going to help change out the slides to boggie wheels. I've been running on borrowed time w/ the slides (which, as the name implies slides along the inside of the track to help push the sled down the trail). The slides never worked that well back in the 1970s, so the boggies are 30 plus years overdue.

I've posted up several photos so ya'll can see what us northern boys do to keep sane in winter. Enjoy.

More snowmobile show pixs.

Note: The Knight Rider Raider won Best of Show. The guy had LCD display screens all over this machine. The Raiders are like the trikes of the snowmobile world.
