The '67 is when I literally fell in love with VW's. And the exact location where it happened is IH45 and Howard Dr. I remember that vividly...

Had the weekend off and got a lot of little things accomplished before I set out to start on the engine.

Got an early B-day gift of a wire cover and trunk liner. Both items came from WW and whats fitted in so far is the wire cover. Fit good...
Image

Spiffed up the chrome ring and put it on.
Image

Wired up the reverse lights with new wire from the splitter. Even used the clips that were on the brackets when I disassembled so long ago. They are a nice touch...

Image

This is the gas cap that came with it when I bought it. Is this the right one?

Image

Shot of the heater outlet. Cleaned up good.
Image

This is the original rear-view mirror. It cleaned up but the pits on it are not very eye-pleasing. I went ahead and put it on as it is the original. I can get another one later.

Image

The 30-1 pict carb. The base flange reads 105-1 so its the right one.

Image

Image

Now here is something I can't figure out. The tube out of the sender is a vent tube. Is that right? Do I route and splice into the vent under the gas cap or just plug it off?

Image

Sourced a block-off for the passenger-side grill. It looks to have been used before as it had an old grill pattern on the other side. I flipped it to expose a fresh side.

Image

More to come...
