PIC 34-3 CARB. or equivalent for Testing Problem

Brian, see the photo attached, the yellow arrow pointing to the... freeze plug? It weeps fuel from around this area. I'm thinking this maybe part of the problem.

If it's just weeping out of there it probably isn't the main culprit. Especially since it started running poorly all at once. I think it's more likely that a jet or passageway is clogged. Have you given it a good soak in a fresh can of Berryman's?

Well, if it's weeping fuel...could also be sucking air from the same place?

check for manifold leaks.

can of carb cleaner will tell if its a vac leak.

Ok this is almost funny.
I took the carb. out of the bucket of simple green....yes I use simple green, it works!
I blew out every nook hole and cranny (whats a cranny?) with the air gun.
Reassembled carb, but I see a threaded hole near the top of the carb. with nothing to thread into it.
I looked in my little cup that I had put all the little carb. parts into while disassembling. *uck nothing in there.....where the *uck is it. :furious:

Then I started thinking...I don't even remember taking that part out.

So I referred to the carb. breakdown sheet, #25 on the attachment.

now I'm thinking this must have come out while doing 70mph for and hour on my way home Sunday.
So I started looking around the engine compartment.....and there it was way in the back under the alternator.
I won't bore you how long it took to find it and get out of it's hiding place.

Oh....car runs fine now!
