Yes and No..

they can work like you have it there.. no issues! easy and done..

but in reality the clamp for them has the nut and bolt on the other side from the one you have as the
condenser will hit the bolt on a 009 clamp when trying to adjust timing.. the badge usually faces away from the gen/alt..

but then again.. yours is working so no biggy..

I thought I may have it wrong. There is a "1" where the 3 plug wire is at. I have a stock hold down that has the adjustment bolt on the opposite side.
Does this one retard number 3 to prevent that cylinder from getting hot? I was told that's how a 009 works.

that is assocaiated with condenser wire not the cap.. the notch on the lip is for locating number 1.

but to answer your question they do not have a 3 retard..

You hear of this all the time.. but not sure which if even any actually had this other than the 009 from
what I have read.. and it is only 3 degrees on the lobe anyways..
