Screw it! Just drive the hell out of it all summer (keep an eye on it, of course), then fix it in the winter. Can't be anything serious leaking.
I think the trans seal might have been bad/going and when the hypoid was filled to the proper level it started to leak. I'm keeping an eye on the level. I also have a small valve cover leak that new gaskets can't seem to fix either - but that's just more character spots on the garage floor.
Hey, do you run accelerator cable conduits/tubes in your 64? I discovered that my exposed accelerator cable was cutting into the trans case - not good. I picked up a conduit for that area, but have struck out on several online sources for the conduit that runs through the fan shroud.
I have a new accelerator cable because the one in the Bug is overstretched - haven't had time to install.
I have a metal tube going through the fan shroud, and an off-the-shelf "conduit" between the pan and the metal tube. I didn't have any issues before getting the conduit, but got it just to have one less thing to worry about.
