Wayne, Clay, or Dylan,
Do you have a cig lighter in your car? (If so, can you take a pic and post it?) That would be great for charging my iPod while driving. I bought one at Auto Zone and had it mounted, but never got to test it. I would love to have one in that hole so it looks stock.

Mine is still all apart ... but I beleive that the ground is the body of the lighter and the hot goes to the number 9 (far left looking from inside the trunk Black wire .. I think same as radio) of the fuse box.

I did not fill the dash holes. I wanted a new dash pad but never broke down and spent the money. Remember the knobs are diff and without the dash pad I think they look a little off. I searched all over and found a realy clean vent thingy for under the hood so the water could flow out without getting under the hood wet. Without it water realy gets under the hood. The seats are early seats I just don't care for the high back seats.

Dylan take some pics and post them. Id like to see it again.

I will have to look for that! I was planning on using the airbox just because I did not know what else to do. Glad you mentioned that!

Yesterday, I stripped the stuff out of the doors and removed the rest of the back seat and crap that was behind it.

Which brings me to first question. Is the vent window and post all one piece in a 1969 Bug? Mine were. The thing is that whomever installed these, did not do something right. When I did drive her a couple of years ago, and it would rain, these vent windows would have a small waterfall running down the inside of the door. Now I wonder if these are correct or if the seals were just not installed correctly. There was about a quarter inch gap between the end of the driver's side seal and the vent post.

Back seat removed...

Probably the "not-so-brightest" thing I did was order a paint color chart. I was set on black. Then I leaned toward black cherry. Now, Summit Racing has a Bahama Blue that is not too far off the blue that is on the car. Decisions... Decisions... Decisions...

I am a complete novice at stripping down a car and painting it. So I am just doing what seems "obvious". I have found a couple of spots that may need some metal work and possibly some welding. Is there a shop or someone that I should ask for help?

Also, is there someone who could narrow my front beam and tie rods, or better to buy new ones?

Next is to remove the front seats and then cut out the glass. More pics coming!

Ron:

looks like we are headed in the same direction. my mig welder is at a storage facility off of north park. that's where I replay the rear pans on my Ghia. I'm in cypress but I work in Kingwood. I could possibly meet you there to do the welding when your ready if I have not moved it back to cypress.

You can get a beam from Shawn at hard knock ( he will likely see this post and contact you) or you can check with the bug shop in new caney ( can't remember if it's 1314 or 1485 about half way to Conroe). haven't had any work done there but he claims he can do anything. Otherwise you can try to locate a used one. they are given away at shows and the winner usually already has one. Then they it them up for sale at a swap meet.

I am willing to offer my 2c if you need some help since I am so close almost daily.

Like Wayne said. I take pics of everything big and small. I bag everything and label the bag. Makes things so much easier.
