not really much to report, just working on the engine a little here and there. I've got the bottom end blueprinted, so I may assemble it pretty soon. heads aren't built yet because I may be getting some custom valves made, still looking into it.
Mike Herbert is building my tranny, and fixing all the "rookie mistakes" it had from the original builder, and I'm getting a GT automatic torque biasing diff, so I should be able to put the power to the ground a lot better. its a cool looking diff, I'll have Mike take some pics of it so I can post them.

Mike Herbert built my berg5! Glad to hear you're using him as well!

Did the Crow tranny break?

Also, what comp ratio were you running for your previous engine? You gonna increase or decrease this with your current build?

it had problems since it was new, it would try to seize if you drove it on the freeway for more than 10-15 minutes. I spent a lot of time trying to solve the problem, blaming it on everything but the tranny. Turns out the synchros were waaaay too tight and were trying to seize when they got some heat in them. There were some other broblems with the way it was built that Mike is going to fix. But finally it got stuck in two gears, which is the main reason it came out.
I was running about 9.25:1 before, I'll probably set it up in the low 10's now. Everything is going to be bigger, except the cylinders, which were already 94's.

Well I will fully agree that it is a bummer your transmission did what it did...

I would be hard pressed to say rookie mistake... one being the David has built litterally thousands of tranmissions
since he began in the 70's -I will be the first to say I have no real knowledge of how transmissions work and this being said when I told David of this problem he showed me how the syncro goes on and there didn't look to be any "setup" on them as the just slip over the gear . maybe it needed to be mic-ed for I.D. and O.D. ineterference a massaged accordingly.??? but again I don't know how those things work..

David and I are good friends and I know that when things happen to an item from a builder/source it does us all a great service to know what to look for when using that source... but this is his lively hood and allowing him to provide answers
would be a decent thing to do..

"Rookie mistakes" was not my term, I was quoting Mike, thus the quotes.
I told you to have David call Mike if he wants to know the problems he found, I'm not the right person to explain it in technical detail. If David is unwilling to do that, that's his problem... I have no interest in trying to explain to him what was explained to me.
I like David, he's a nice guy, I've hung out with him at the races. But I'm pretty disappointed in what he built me.

I've had luck with my Crow tranny since '92! Mind you my old motor was dyno'd at 115hp back in '96!
