You pull the brass tube, roughen up the outside, and reset with a hammer.

Buy a fire extinguisher too.....

That's a common area for them to leak. That leak has caused more than one VW to go up in flames :shock:

You can probably work the brass tube out, put a little chamfer on the carb where it goes in, then re-assemble it with a little JB Weld.

If you want, I have a 34 PICT-1 (i think) that you can have. It needs to be rebuilt. That may give you peace of mind. Let me know if you want it.

I would try tapping it and using a threaded inlet
