I put a 1600 dual port in my 66 using the original tranny and now I can't get my clutch to do anything. The pedal is working and the cable isn't snapped and its pulling the fork on the tranny like its supposed to. I tightened up the wing nut on the cable all the way and still nothing, for the life of me I cannot figure out the problem and its starting to get under my skin. Any suggestions would really help

is it possible you got the wrong length clutch cable? You should have about 1 inch of pedal movement and then feel the pedal get stiff as the clutch starts to engage.

If I remember correctly, it's a 73 and later alternator motor...then it's the wrong pp. you need a 200mm pp with the sleeve thingamajigger on it :hillbilly:

I thought the sleeve didnt matter, just that your pressure plate matches your throwout bearing.

I think it was 1970 when VW changed the throw-out bearing design. Up to 70 there is a sleeve thing on the pp that the TO bearing mates too and the trans doesn't have a guide tube. After 70 the trannies all had guide tubes and there isn't a sleeve over the fingers on the pp. For burch the easiest thing to do is to get the correct pp and then everything should jive. You'll notice on KEP 200mm pp's they have a removable sleeve making their pp's universal.
