A guy that works in the next building over from me saw my Bus in the parking lot and told me he had an old VW. We started talking and he described it to me, and honestly it sounded too good to be true. He said he wanted to give it a new home, but his wife didn't want to sell. This was back in January. He said he would call me in mid-April and maybe by then his wife would be agreeable. He didn't want to show it to me in the meantime -- and I didn't push him.

Mid April came and went, and I had pretty much written off this deal. Off I went to the Classic with some cash -- ready to buy, but didn't see anything I liked. Thank goodness, because Tuesday, the day after I got back -- he called! I went over Wednesday and as soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted it  His price was very fair and we made a deal on the spot.

This car has been right under my nose, hiding in a local garage for the past 13 years... 3 miles from where I work..... ever since he brought it here from California. I've known this guy for about 5 years, occasionally crossing paths, but never saying anything more than "hello" to each other.

The moral of this story: DRIVE YOUR VW TO WORK!!!
