This was just painful, hacking a virgin Oval dash...

Here's the purpose though...

I'm getting rid of my reserve switch on my tank and putting in an -8 AN outlet to support my new power levels. So its finally time for a fuel gauge.

Looks great although I bet it was hard to cut the dash. I always thought the trend was to install those in the ashtray door on an oval.

Maybe, I don't know, I don't like following trends ;)
I like the way it looks there a lot though, I don't have any regrets. I think it wouldn't be too bad to weld that closed if someday I wanted to return it to stock. That won't happen any day soon though :P

I haven't made too much progress in the past couple weeks since we were out of town on Mother's Day weekend. I managed to get a little done here and there though...

I set the endplay on the crank
Image

Checked my deck so I could figure out my barrel spacers and chamber CC's. I'm aiming for ~ 10.1:1 compression
Image

Blueprinted my oil pump...
Image

Cleaned all the oil lines and reinstalled them. I eliminated the oil flow thermostat, so I had to reroute and change a couple lines. I put the short block in so I could connect the lines to the pump and case to figure out their lengths
Image

I had the spare tank Paul gave me stripped. I'm going to seal it this weekend with POR15 then paint it. I had to have a flange welded to it to mount the sender, the hole someone had put in the tank for for a mechanical sender and was too big for an electronic one
Image

I eliminated my reserve switch because it would limit fuel flow too much for the power I'll be making, so I'm now running -8 AN from the tank to the pump. I now have a hose clampless car! (I still had a few before between the tank reserve outlet and the pump.) I also put on my front adjustable Koni shocks
Image

I put a valve between the tank outlet and the filter so I could shut the fuel off when I need to remove the filter for cleaning, remove the tank, etc....
Image

New cleanable fuel filter...

Nice work! I like the idea of the valve under there.
