So as we were driving to the store shifter got loose and couldn't put it into any gear but 4th and reverse. :furious: :furious: I had been driving it around to make sure it was still road worthy. Tomorrow I'll have to check it out.

Quick question, how can I test my generator to see if it's charging? I Have a new battery, so I know it's not the battery. Any help appreciated

generators are easy to trouble shoot

first put a volt meter on the battery and check the voltage with the car off then with it running. Off it should be around 12.5 or so, running it should be 13.7-14

if the voltage while running is about the same as the car off then your charging system isn't working.

I'm lazy as fawk so my next step is to pull the fan belt and repolarize the gen. If that works then the gen "should" be good to go and most likely the VR died. If the gen doesn't take to the polarization then it's a generator problem (that is what is happening to my bus FML). I'm sure the Bentley has a procedure to all that but I'm a jerk and I do things my own way :hillbilly:

Sweet thanks, what about the shifter? Eliot gave me some advice that I'll try tomorrow. Hopefully it's nothing to bad.

Make sure you check voltage coming out of the VR, not directly out of the generator itself.
