So for those that didn't go to the show today, I'll spill the beans
I bought a '64 as you could see from my license plate thread. Type 345 (LHD type 34 with a sunroof)
The car is currently in Redondo Beach. Waiting for the check to clear, to see what happens next. #1 Either it clears quickly and I have it shipped here quickly, Or #2 it takes a while and I get it shipped as fast as I can (which is starting to look like an issue, I fly out to NorCal June 1st). Or #3 I pick it up when in LA for the classic the following weekend. One of the type 3 guys in SoCal has offered up his house to take it to in San Diego after the classic, until the shipper can come pick it up.
I'd rather do # 1 and get it over with, although it's looking like #2 and #3. Steven and Lillian (who you hopefully met today) also have a type 34, and have offered to have the car sent to their house if I'm gone, so that's freaking cool.
Anyways... I bought it on eBay. Kostya actually posted the auction here in the classifieds and I quickly asked him to take it down, I didn't want any competition LOL. We will find out for sure when it gets here but it does have some pedigree and a lot of recent work.
The pans were replaced 2 owners ago and look to be nice. New paint by Harry Nicks Old Car Specialty (check this car he did

http://tinyurl.com/8y8dx9f or
http://tinyurl.com/c87d2dv)(What the hell is he doing working on a VW?) The good thing is that painters of this quality typically won't paint over bondo. Seats and doors have been re-done. Supposedly good running original motor, rebuilt carbs. Missing headliner, seat spears, upper and lower dash pads, upper door pads. Some trim. Not all sure yet. The previous owner bought and built the car for his son, who ended up wanting a new car instead... good for me. It's more than I've ever paid for a VW, but considering the rareness of these, especially with a factory electric 6v sunroof, I think I did ok
Enough right? you guys wanted pics:
