Started the teardown process and found a couple of issues. The #1 rod is a little stiff on the crank. Also, it looks like one of the wrist pin clips were left off of the #2 piston, which put a nice deep gouge in the cylinder. That's too bad, because they have very little wear otherwise.

If I feel like another late night, I'll split the case this evening and see what that #1 rod journal looks like.

Looks to have been rebuild at one point?

and the retaining clip popped out and allowed the wristpin to dig into the wall..

HOW is endplay??

The bench is awesome!

Hopefully it's not too bad in there. I need to see what's salvageable from the 36-er I got, I haven't acquired a big enough hammer to beat the heads off yet.

It's not the OG motor, and it's definitely been rebuilt. The cylinders/pistons look extremely good, as if they have very few miles on them (except for the gouge). I'm thinking the wrist pin clip was left out by mistake.... because, where could it have gone? There's no schrapnel, filings, etc to be found... just a clean, smooth deep gouge.

Endplay feels fine, but haven't put a dial indicator on it yet.... that's next.
