Cut the rest of the wires out. Also, I drained the brake fluid reservoir and removed it. Then sprayed down the master cylunder nuts and the steering column bolts with PB Blaster. Hope to get them removed either tonight or tomorrow.

Started stripping paint off of body parts over the weekend. I was told to use the Airplane stripper stuff and that would preserve any original rust inhibitors. This stuff works well...

And the best part was, I had a helper. He said he wants to finish the car and when he gets old enough, he wants to drive it. That's my boy!

We also painted POR15 on the backsides of the rims. Yes, allow a 7 year old to help paint with POR 15... that is why he and I have some dark spots on our hands today. But we had fun none the less...

More pics to come...

Does any one know what size torx adapter is needed to remove the steering column bolts from the body?

Wayne,

Did you take out your steering column, or just paint it the new color?

I took the column out .. painted it the grey/black from WW ... rattle can. two hex bolts hold it to the bracket ... I think two bolts hold the bracket to the car. I replaced the rubber that goes to the fire wall , but the old was ok .... Hope you did not cut all the steering column wires..

Wayne,

OK. I just trying to find out what size allen wrench to go and get so I can remove the steering column.

I did cut most of the wires out of steering column, but the horn ground wire is still intact. The ignition and turn signal lever wires will be replaced.

BTW, you car looks great lowered!

Thanks ... I'll see what the size is .. if my allen even shows it . All those column wires are attach/soldered to either the turn/high beams or the starter/ing switch. Hopefully you can splice onto something. also the horn/bearing in the column is a brown wire not to be confused with the brown wire from the turn switch.
